Small bags of frozen veg, preferably own brand

Do such things exist? I dont have a lot of room in my freezer and these massive bags of frozen veg take up so much room

Im quite fussy about what I like, I only really like sweetcorn, peas and fine green beans if the veg is frozen ( I buy different veg fresh). I cant stand these mix bags where its overwhelmingly carrots. But I dont have room for huge bags of these 3 things (along with a bag of spinach, need that in a smaller size too)

I found birds eye do a peas and sweetcorn mix thats 640g and that would be about the right size, but per kilo, the price is expensive compared to own brand

Any pointers?

Apologies if I'm trying to give you more work, but you could decant and freeze tinned sweetcorn or chop, blanch and freeze fine beans in quantities that suit.

Try farmfoods or Heron, both of them have single veg in frozen bags. I also hate mixed veg.

Scampuss · 27/04/2024 15:17

Tinned sweetcorn is nicer, then you could have room for slightly bigger bags of peas and green beans.

Husband buys these. We both have painful hands and find chopping vegetables difficult. I find these bags have decent ratios of the different veg in them. Is this the sort of thing you are after?

try Asda, they’ve got a good range of chopped frozen herbs and veg, I swear by their stew mix.

These are my favourites. Better than birdseye!

Green beans take up soo much room in the freezer that we just buy fresh. Peas I get supermarket ones for the freezer. Sweetcorn is from a tin.

As others have suggested, tinned sweetcorn is so much nicer. You can often find the small serve tins in places like B&M and home bargains very cheaply.

Im just experimenting with frozen veg, Ive never been a fan, would used to have had just frozen peas. But now I find room for cauliflower florets ( much better value and no difference in texture ) and frozen casserole mix. Green beans If I buy them I buy fresh.

Like yourself, I dont have a lot of freezer space so I invested in a vac pack from the middle aisle. Stuff that comes in boxes or large quantities get spit and vac packed. If I need the cooking times, I just cut that off the box and put it in the bag before I seal

Either accept you're going to pay more for your frozen veg, get a bigger freezer, or find room for the big bags.

Unless you actually just have one of those 1960s ice boxes in the fridge that fit no more than one box of fish fingers and a tray of ice cubes, can you really not make space for three bags of veg? Eat some of the ready meals. Cook that yellow sticker joint of beef. Throw away the four year old chicken carcass, you're never going to make stock from it. Saving the unused brandy butter from last Christmas isn't an economical use of freezer space. Neither is a gallon of milk, you can do without it for a day or two if there's a storm.
