I have most of a white cabbage left, and lacking inspiration for how to use it. Putting it in the lime and poppy seed slaw is the only thing I can think of, but I've used the start of it in a slaw type recipe and not sure if that will get samey?

A friend sent me this recipe last year and it is fantastic. If you have the other ingredients in, I highly recommend it. I make it every couple of weeks now!https://glebekitchen.com/indian-slaw/

indian slaw - glebe kitchen

Creamy, crunchy Indian slaw with a yoghurt, mayo spiced dressing makes a great side any time you serve tandoori chicken.

Steam it.
Had to cooked mashed with onions and corned beef and fry in butter.
Bubble and squeak.

Deconstructed spring rolls.
Grate some carrot and chop cabbage and onions thin.
Fry with meat (cubed chicken or ground beef) or chekpeas, and season with soy sauce or whatever chinese inspired sauce you like.
We eat it with rice/noodles or just alone.

Slice finely, fry gently in butter, add s+p either caraway or cumin seeds, add water & cook slowly. Onions added at the beginning are good as well.

I envy your problem! Romanian cabbage salad. Basically finely chopped cabbage and onion. Small amount of dill, salt, vinegar and oil. Divine!

Absurdgiraffe · 20/04/2024 17:49

@TheCoolOliveBalonz that sounds good! I make something similar, but add finely chopped cucumber. Plus sumac if I can get it.

I love this dumpling salad, in a similar vein is Roasted Carrot and Cabbage with Gochujang. If you don't have large quantities then thinly sliced and stir-fried in rice and noodle dishes.

Bokkumbap, with leftover fried rice. It’s really good, I make it at least once a month

There’s a lot of recipes for bacon, cabbage, onion and butter fried up together. Not the healthiest option but delicious

Or stir fried with garlic - on its own or as part of egg fried rice

Mathiesons smoked sausage, an onion, lots of white wine, garlic, cabbage. Slow cook the lot, add some paprika towards the end. Serve with crusty bread and dollowp of sour cream.

That looks good @IDontLikePinaColadas Such a simple recipe… but looks like all the ingredients need to be spot on. It has great reviews

You really do need the best sausages for it but so incredibly easy.

Abracadabra12 · 23/04/2024 19:17

Similar to the suggestion with smoked sausages - this is amazing amp.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/sep/27/smothered-cabbage-and-sausage-recipe-rachel-roddy

@IDontLikePinaColadas - I cooked this last night. I dithered in the shop over sausages but ended up being brave and going for their chorizo and pork ones.

It was flippin’ DELICIOUS! Yum.

We’ve got the leftovers tonight and I bet it’ll taste even better.

Make a batch of sauerkraut! I used the Riverford recipe, it's dead easy and I make it regularly now
