Best instant hot choc?

Twinkletwinklelil · 19/04/2024 12:54

I need to take something to work so I stop paying ridiculous prices for tea/cofee/choc at work.

I’ve never come across a nice rich creamy hot choc in a sachet but that’s exactly what I need.. please help!

If you can keep a tub in your locker, whitards do a nice one.

Forgottenmyphone · 19/04/2024 13:19

To use with milk or water?

Mumaway · 19/04/2024 13:21

Tub not sachet, but clipper organic. Red tub. Make with water, splash of milk for creaminess

Probably water but can get a little milk to add

I was like this, got gifted a velvetiser for Christmas one year and it's been great. If buying yourself there's plenty of dupes on Amazon now, you can get some really nice hot chocolate that is similar to hotel Chocolat (shaved chocolate) from Tesco etc that far out does anything you could get from a work cafe. I keep my velvetiser at work and bring it home on the weekends. You could also then ask at birthdays etc for the hotel Chocolat variety boxes etc.

I really like the Cadburys one you make with hot water. I add a splash of milk to the powder and mix it to a paste before adding hot water as it adds a bit if creaminess and a nice froth on top.
My late grandma in law loved Suchards which she ones had on a train and I found a load of sachets for her to have at home when she liked.

My favourite isn't even a hot chocolate, it's the nesquick milk shake chocolate powder (not the liquid one).

It's so nice. Hands down beats all the top brands. Just add hot milk. Or spoon into hot milk. Either way it doesn't clump.

I discovered it camping with children 20 years ago in Portugal.

In that case, the Galaxy one.

rightoguvnor · 19/04/2024 15:53

The Galaxy one really dissolved easily but if you're concerned about calorie intake (and I am) the Cadbury Highlights sachets are very nice with a little milk added. I have a very sweet tooth so I add one sweetener tablet as well.
I always have one during the quiet lull on a night shift and it feels very relaxing.

RedPanda2022 · 19/04/2024 21:29

Options using more than suggested powder. We use about 1.5x as much powder and it is very tasty and still pretty low cal. Not the cheapest but much cheaper than coffees/takeway!

AndBeyond · 19/04/2024 21:32

I like the shaved chocolate versions like Hotel Chocolat, but you need to make them with hot milk. I honestly don't think any of the water versions will be all that nice on their own, but I've definitely had the Galaxy and Cadbury ones with a bit of coffee in them to make a sort of mocha! Good in a pinch

MoonWoman69 · 19/04/2024 22:37

I love the Cadburys instant, but made like coffee, with a splash of milk! I'm going to try the Nesquik chocolate one hot now! That sounds like my kind of thing!

Tulipvase · 19/04/2024 22:41

I’m tempted to buy the Nesquik too. We bought my son a velvetiser 2 years ago and it’s used daily. Well worth the money.

Tulipvase · 19/04/2024 22:42

The Lindt hot chocolate is good too.

Twinkletwinklelil · 20/04/2024 22:07

Thanks all!
Will try a couple of these
i have a velvetiser but don’t fancy taking it into work!
whittards is first on my list

definitely trying the nesquik trick!

The galaxy is the best with hot water

Soontobe60 · 20/04/2024 22:17

The best ones I have found that I keep at work are these -

Not strictly chocolate as they are mocha, but very chocolatey and a good price - about 20p a sachet. I also drink them at home with a slug of baileys!!

Yes, Clipper is the best 'no fuss, just add boiling water' variety of hot chocolate.

WibblyWobblyWeeble · 20/04/2024 22:20

Twinings is great.

SheilaFentiman · 20/04/2024 22:20

I like Galaxy, pretty creamy taste
