Hi all,

I could do with some help as I am running out of ideas to keep my son full, he snacks a lot and eats a lot but he’s slipping into the super noodle /pot noodle route when I don’t get back from work early - I often leave the slow cooker on for him but he finds slow cooked meals a little dull after a while ( I’m not that adventurous! )

Any ideas to keep him full ( and healthy) with almost zero cooking? Any healthy options to super noodles out there that are quick and easy ideas for him to prep and eat? Shakes? Smoothies? Cooking isn’t my forte x

Teach him to cook. Then when you are back late, you can come home to dinner already done.

Mine demolished peanut butter by the jar full, sometimes in a sandwich, sometimes just from the jar.

Would also have a bowl of cereal when they came back from school.

If the rest of his diet is healthy, then crumpets or teacakes are relatively healthy.

Cook extra for your evening meals and box up leftovers to be reheated in the microwave if you have one .

Show him how to cook eggs - scrambled, boiled or omelettes

Mine used to really like smoked mackerel and lemon juice (if I had it) with either cream cheese (eg Philadelphia) or mayonnaise , whizzed up in any processor or blender for a couple of minutes. It makes a fish pate which is great with toast or pitta or crackers or veg sticks, or all of those! It can be made with just mackerel and mayonnaise if necessary, or you can use tinned fish eg tinned salmon. It's nutritious, filling and delicious. Mine used to wolf a load of it after school if he'd had football , and still eat a full dinner an hour two later.

I batch cook through the week spag Bol, turkey mince chilli with loads of veg. Always make a load of pasta and put portions of leftovers in the fridge ready for the whirlwind fridge smash and grab after school. Sausage rolls and punnets of grapes are devoured in seconds. I feel your pain

Thank you all, lots of great ideas - I had hit a bit of a wall…

Stocked up on lots from different ideas and he has a plethora to choose from now 👍🏻

He can cook simple meals himself but whilst he’s focusing on his GCSEs I want food that’s ready to go :)

I had stopped buying porridge as he went off it (coupled with him being a tad lazy…)but those porridge sachets were a fab idea and he’s devoured 2 today and added loads of fruit and nuts.

Really appreciate your time to reply xx
