Tastiest/expensive tasting breakfast tea?

I'm currently drinking Sainsbury's red label tea, mostly due to price, and it's just not cutting it.

I've realised life is too short to buy cheap tea so can anyone recommend a delicious tasting breakfast tea? I've not tried too many apart from PG , Yorkshire and supermarket own brand

Do more expensive ones like Clipper, Twinings actually deliver?

I used to love Twinings (decaff) but recently something has changed and it now has a distinct taste of fish about it, so definitely can’t recommend that one!

Loads of people swear by Yorkshire Gold but I've not tried it.

The loveliest tea I've had in UK is Cornish Tea. It's sooo good.

DH insists on Waitrose English Breakfast.

genesis92 · 10/04/2024 15:29

Yes I've actually tried Cornish tea (being Cornish 😆) and I remember it having a lovely flavour

Mostly just following. But I like M&S gold leaf tea. And Yorkshire tea. Leaf tea is the best though.

unpleasantindividual · 10/04/2024 15:31

I like Ahmad tea

EmpressoftheMundane · 10/04/2024 15:34

I like Twinnings, Yorkshire tea is too strong for me.

(I drink tea without milk.)

goingdownfighting · 10/04/2024 15:35

M&S gold.

Knackeredhamster · 10/04/2024 15:36

Thompson's in the red packet.

BigFatLiar · 10/04/2024 15:39

Also take into account your water. Hard or soft, makes a difference.

Thompson's in the red packet.

agree or Barry’s Tea

DrSpartacular · 10/04/2024 15:41

I currently drink Clipper, will brew up strong without being bitter.

onwardandupwards · 10/04/2024 15:41

I love clipper tea but I do love strong tea

GettingtheElectric · 10/04/2024 15:42

Barry's Tea.

Elmeux · 10/04/2024 15:43

Another vote for M&S Gold

Tea can taste different dependant upon if you dunk a teabag in a mug, or make a pot of tea.

Suki tea is good and also the tea brew company. I am not sure if either do teabags though. I can throughly recommend the tea brew company teapots - I use mainly their Earl Grey, but DH has other blends from them.

MuscariFan · 10/04/2024 16:14

I love the Clipper in the black and orange box. Recently bought the Clipper in the green-based box because they were on offer, but they were no good at all.

MuscariFan · 10/04/2024 16:15

Twinings English Breakfast have gone sadly downhill by the way, don't cut it at all for me.

Newestname002 · 10/04/2024 16:42

I love Assam tea but, for the amount you get I think it's quite expensive for the amount of bags you get. So the regular black tea I drink is Yorkshire tea but I wait until there's a promotion on. Currently (checked online) Poundland are offering 210 bags for £5.50 ie: 160 bags plus 50 free. 🌹

MaverickBoon · 10/04/2024 16:44

I do rate Clipper, Yorkshire and locally to us we have a van that comes round with the most delicious tea and biscuits but I can't for the life of me remember its name! Something like Rowleys??

Jennalong · 10/04/2024 16:48

Ringtons Gold but direct online or from a van that comes directly to your house if you live oop north.

BigBundleOfFluff · 10/04/2024 16:53

Barry's tea is the best!

thehousewiththesagegreensofa · 10/04/2024 16:54

Teapigs are amazing. I drink too much tea to just have that though. I'd need to re-mortgage the house!

QuestionableMouse · 10/04/2024 16:55

I like Teapigs but it is horribly expensive!

Have twinings changed their breakfast tea recipe ? How do you know it's not the same? 🙂

toastofthetown · 10/04/2024 17:36

My favourite breakfast is is the Rare Tea Company Malawi Breakfast. It has such a rich and complex flavour compared to other teas. I use an OXO tea infuser basket, and it’s more that much work than a teabag, but it’s so much better.
