I watched an IG reel where a guy made basically a spicy cheese and potatoe pasty. He used frozen round pastry that he said you could find in Asian shops. I cant remember what it was called and im dying to make the recipie. Can anyone help?

Paratha?

Shinyeyes · 24/03/2024 17:25

We buy frozen paratha from Ocado. They're fab.

A frozen Chapati?

Simonjt · 24/03/2024 17:37

Cooked or raw?

It may simply be filo pastry, filo for samosas etc are round.

Paratha is bread, not pastry.

Ooh, what a good idea to use a paratha! I’m going to try that.

TempleOfBloom · 24/03/2024 17:39

But paratha is very rich and flaky, as much pastry like as it is bread.

Oh no sorry i just watched it and never saved thats why i couldnt remember the pastry thing.
It was basically mash, spring onions, cheese, garlic, chilli flakes and coriander. Cooked in a pan and then this filling was put inside the pastry circle, fold it over to make a pasty, egg wash and cook in oven.

He made like a little tomatoe chilli, garlic and sugar sauce to dip it in too. Just cooked in a pan and blended. Thats what i can remember anyway x

Was it a puri or luchi? I don’t know much about Indian food so could be completely wrong!
