Toastie recipes

I am looking to improve my toastie game and need ideas for accompaniments to the cheese, particularly chutneys/jams/sauces. Any recommendations? I do not eat poultry or pork so ham etc is out, but any other types of accompaniments also welcome!

Mince. Like from mince and tatties so with plenty gravy. About 20 odd years ago that's what we used to put in the toasties at a pub I worked at. It was really popular but I've never seen them for sale anywhere else.

A cafe I worked in years ago used to make rarebit toasties, they were amazing. Cheese and kimchi with sambal olek or naga pickle is my favourite. I also love a fajita toastie with either just veg or chicken if I have some left over, salsa, jalapeños, coriander and sour cream or guacamole on the side. Probably controversial but I also love a haggis, cheese and peppercorn sauce toastie 🤤.

I always put a slice of bread under my mince and tatties 😋. Will definitely be trying a toastie the next time I have some leftovers.

Our local cafe does an amazing faggots, cheese and chutney toastie. I think the sustainable nose to tail eating trend has brought a bit of a revival of haggis, offal and what have you.

cheese, onion and tomato with finely chopped fresh sage or thyme
leftover spag bol or chilli very hot inside be careful!

@WhamBamThankU You will get beetroot on most of the salad buffets..but it is band :( I am picking up a jar in Canada in a couple weeks.. along with tins of sockeye salmon, malt bread, and beef stock cubes (strangely cannot get those here either.. Just chicken, and veggie, and tomato

BLAND ffs..not BAND

So this morning, husband was talking to me but I was so engrossed in looking at all the different fillings he wanted to see what was so interesting on my laptop. He laughed and rolled his eyes as I was on this thread. Follow on lunchtime coming up. Husband.. "sweetie whats for lunch?" Me "I dunno what do you want" Him. A toastie. A good one . LMAO.. I present his lunch to you. I had a thin sandwich steak in fridge. Did it with carmalized onions, a little HP sauce and shredded cheese. He ate it all. Dogs were ticked off as got none. He is now napping lol in a toastie coma.

I've just made a toastie with extra mature cheddar and caramelised red onion chutney for lunch, with salad and coleslaw on the side-highly, highly recommend!

That looks amazing! I want to make a steak toastie but never get around to buying the steak!

@DarrylPhilbin watch this space..next friday . I am flying to canada on Thursday and my granddaughter has requested I have my famous lasanga ready for dinner hahahaha. So my daughter works long days but comes home for lunch. Lunch will be a lasanga toastie with lashings of extra cheese and a bowl of marinara to dip it in. Shall take pictures!!
