Finger food ideas for fussy 1yo?

Our 1yr old DS refuses to eat off a spoon & is fussy (particularly suspicious of proteins - fish, meat, egg, etc). Can anyone recommend any nutritious finger food recipes?

Ideally ones that will appeal to 4yr old DD so he can see her eating them (extra bonus points for gluten free as DW is Coeliac, so I could cook one meal for everyone…).

My fuss pot loved big flavours. So I’m going to suggest trying chorizo, smoked salmon, all the cheeses, pastrami, marinated chicken, etc.

Would he like potato and fish cakes?

squares of tofu with different marinades?

Have you tried dips on the side?

Mine is still quite selective about texture- wouldn’t eat bolognaise or casserole for example - but is getting better at eating generally.

Fajitas -wraps, grated cheese, pepper sticks, chicken or haloumi? If they like stronger flavours you could flavour the chicken with paprika.
Homemade fishcakes, bean burgers and falafel are all perfect finger food
Fritata
Roasted gnocchi with pesto and grated cheese.

He’s tried and not liked cheese, but very wary of trying other new foods - won’t engage with salmon, chicken, ham. Bread he likes but not interested in dips.

Potato he eats and interestingly ate halloumi at a restaurant the other day (but not the dip!).

I’ve not tried fish cakes, good idea! 👍

Thanks! Yes we all had fajitas the other day. He tore at a bit of the wrap and did put the chicken in his mouth, but little more.

Have got falafel to try; fish cakes, bean burgers and fritata are all great ideas, will add to the list!

If he tried the wrap maybe quesadilla or pin wheels?

Have you tried just dumping food on their tray or on the table infront of them? My 10mo won't eat off a spoon if I'm holding it....but they'll feed themselves with hands and play with the spoon themself. Sometimes the spoon makes it to their mouth 😂 they'll get there eventually with using a spoon but it's not thr battle I'm choosing right now 🤭

Omelette? Frittata? Pancake frittery things? Pin wheels? Hummus?
Beans are a good source of protein if little on isn't interested in meat!

My little one loves mini omelette "cakes" and I can hide no end of nutrients in them - cut out a round of tortilla wrap to line a 12hole cup cake tin, add veg/protein to each hole, top each with whisked egg and a slrinkle of herbs and cheese, bake until egg is set and slightly browning on top and voile "egg cakes".
