Have a jar pesto in cupboard and noticed little dent on lid , it has button type thing in middle which I can press up and down, can’t remember is this means not safe or ok. Other jars say but this one does not just noticed as i picked up the button goes up and down, so should i throw it away ?

If it presses up and down, not safe as may have been tampered with.

Ok thanks , I will throw in the big bin then as collection day tomorrow to be safe, just checked apple sauce and the same thing, really strange , neither have been opened. Jar jam in fridge does the same and this is open so would expect that to.

Just tested another jar of pickled onions and jar does not press up and down. No more jars to test. strange why 2 are doing this, I guess i can just throw in general waste bin as don’t want to open jars just incase. Normally recycle the jars but if risk spoiled inside don’t want to risk that. Will maybe check before i buy or when delivered now.
