Traditionally I bake cakes for the Mums for Mothers' Day but I'm looking for something a bit different any good recipes you've tried for eg fancy biscuits / sweet treats / showy off cakes??

Mmmm we're meeting at a pub so I'd prefer something that's more shelf stable and can be wrapped / packaged nicely I think but I'm adding that to my fancy desserts for when people come over!

Pistachio billionaire’s slice https://www.sainsburysmagazine.co.uk/recipes/baking/pistachio-billionaires-slice

Oh I love millionaire's slice, rarely have it as it's so calorific. Would be a perfect Mothers Day treat for me and the pistachio variation sounds lovely.

Brownies - the ones that have eg rolos, slices of snickers or mars bars etc in.

A variety of macarons would also be lovely.

Mary Berry's Florentines came out good for me when I made them, a bit "rustic" looking but delicious (standard for my baking 😆).

I love a loaf cake for gifting, and it always looks generous. Ones I make often that are easily googled:

Nigel slater marmalade cake
Smitten kitchen blueberry citrus yoghurt cake
Felicity Cloake perfect banana bread in the guardian
Bill Granger coconut loaf cake
BBC good food caraway seed cake (great with Madeira!)

Or for non-sweet lovers you can do a savoury French loaf (cake salé), you can do them with olives and cheese, or ham, or even a swirl of pesto and sundried tomatoes.

As do these cookies.

Both classic but high quality.
