Hi
Does anyone use these? I bought a bunch of packets when they were on offer from Ocado, and I dont like them! They're slimy with an after taste. They did have good reviews, so I'm wondering if maybe I'm just making them wrong.

Does anyone buy these regularly and love them? If so please tell me how to prepare them! I'd rather have them as a delicious part of a meal, rather than force them down!

They contain guar gum, which presumably keeps them slippery and separated as they are already cooked. This is the slime element! I avoid that stuff; it crops up in low-fat yogurts as well. Dried noodles only take 4 minutes to cook...

You're also better off with something like soba buckwheat noodles as refined wheat doesn't have much nutritional value.

Could you eat them in a soup? I used similar noodles to make dan dan noodles which is almost soup like.

I use them sometimes when I'm being lazy. I just chuck them into a stir fry. I also like eating them straight from the packet though so I'm probably not the best judge

I can never get them separated so end up with a big unappetising noodle blob

FreeTheWeatherfieldOne · 28/02/2024 17:37

I hate them too. Nasty, gluey things that clump together.

I only use fresh egg noodles now. Super quick, tasty and no clumping.

They taste awful on their own, the only way is to cook them in with a stir fry with some sauce/ liquid. Give the packet a good shoogle around before opening to help separate the noodles, then add to the stir fry and cook for a few minutes. They should absorb a bit of the sauce.
I agree though, dried egg noodles are a much better option.

I use them or the udon ones in pho, not in a stir fry

I dislike ready noodles too. They have an awful taste and slimy texture.
