Can anyone recommend a good book for a 12yo with easy to follow recipes for biscuits and cakes please?
Her mum will be around to supervise the hot oven bit…

Fitwaffle's Baked In One is dds favourite. She's big on social media. I find the recipes really sickly but dd loves them and are very simple to make so a good starting point.

The Fitwaffle one mentioned above is also good, but this was given to my 12 year old DD for her birthday and it's her absolute favourite:

At around that age, DD had a subscription baking box as a gift.(called Baked In - it was a Michael Roux box). She really enjoyed receiving them. Some contained lesser used ingredients, some still could be a little complicated, but all the ingredients were included, pre measured. It meant she could be quite adventurous with baking but still in a way that made it doable for a 12 year old. She got a new box every month, all of which were new recipes to her. Might be worth a look?

Jane’s Pattiserie is a great option. At a similar age I loved the Hummingbird Bakery Book.

The hummingbird bakery cookbook is lovely, would appeal to that age group. Nice pictures, easy/fun recipes

Dd had the hummingbird bakery one about that age

Will look at the Hummingbird one too...her birthday is in about 3 weeks, then we have Easter too so she will get cookbook for one and maybe her own baking equipment for the other.
