Don't you just hate it when you follow the recipe exactly but it doesn't turn out right.

I just tried to make chocolate mousse, a Delia recipe and i followed it exactly but it doesn't look like mousse. It looks more like a thick batter to me

I am gutted because it's supposed to be tomorrows dessert!

What a shame, my only advice is, as long as it tastes nice, other people don't know what it is supposed to look like, so just wing it
If its really sloppy, it might look better in individual ramekins or glasses

I have put it in individual ramekins in the fridge with cling film over them. I am hoping miracles will happen

you never know If they have a setting agent in, then they can become a lot more solid in the fridge

fishie · 22/03/2008 19:05

if it doesn't thicken up then poach some pears and say it is a sauce for them.

MiniEggsMmm · 22/03/2008 19:06

This is the recipe.

If you did the eggs separately like the recipe says and left it to set overnight, I would think it all should set OK.
Sounds yummy anyway!

has it set yet??

MorocconOil · 23/03/2008 09:15

You could always put some whipped cream on the top of the ramekins. It will be very rich, but could disguise the batter effect.

Delia let me down yesterday. I made a chocolate roulade and my mum told me to roll it up while it was still warm. Delia told me to let it cool first.
I should have listened to my mother.

I have found that if I want a particular recipe from a particular book I have not tried before, the best thing to do is to google it and you will find many cooks reports reviews and tips.

Nigella books aren't very reliable imo

hope it turns out ok sound yum
