Chuck it or use it? It's a week over. It smells fine and tastes fine.

Will it make me ill or can I smother my scone in it?

I might have to risk it without MN verification..

I’d risk it if it passed the smell test.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 06/02/2024 18:08

I would use it without question. Enjoy the scone.

muddyford · 06/02/2024 18:10

I'd use it. With raspberry jam.

Munchyseeds2 · 06/02/2024 18:22

I would definitely use it!

aitchteeaitch · 06/02/2024 18:24

Give it another week and you'll have cream cheese.

mondaytosunday · 06/02/2024 18:24

Sure! Sour cream can last ages - over three weeks past its date! If the cream tastes ok then enjoy!

fleurneige · 06/02/2024 18:25

Smells fine, tastes fine. Yes, of course, enjoy.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 06/02/2024 18:26

Definitely use it
cream first, then jam, of course 😊

I used a tub of double cream in our dinner last night and only noticed when tidying up afterwards that it was 11 days out of date. We’ve been fine.

I’m very relaxed about use by and best before dates.

Luckydog7 · 06/02/2024 18:27

Yeah dairy that's gone off isn't dangerous in the same way meat would be. If it smells and tastes fine it's absolutely fine. Use by dates are often over the top cautious. Dairy lasts for ages in reality. I've got cream open in my fridge that's over a week out of date. Will use it until its finished or funky.

Dillydollydingdong · 06/02/2024 18:30

If it tastes ok, it is ok.

FizzingAda · 06/02/2024 19:38

How did clotted cream get past it,s date? I'm not fond of other cream, but could eat clotted cream on it,s own out of the tub, doesn't last long!

MolkosTeenageAngst · 06/02/2024 19:41

I’m not sure if I would use it as even when logically I can tell it smells and tastes fine and therefore will be fine I have a weird psychological reaction to out of date dairy products where they make me gag even if they’re fine, but if I didn’t have that issue I would use it?

macshoto · 06/02/2024 21:51

If it smells / tastes alright and isn't obviously growing mould it should be fine. I've certainly eaten clotted cream that far beyond a use by date.

soupfiend · 06/02/2024 21:51

Yep. I dont even keep it in the fridge usually
