Can't believe it! Just put them in 3.30pm. They are red split lentils. How long will they take? It's on high. They cook in 30mins in my soup maker but obviously it's slower!

Boil them separately for 20 mins in a pan and stir in?

TeenyTinyWiney · 06/02/2024 15:42

Stick it in a pan and cook it for about 20 mins. It'll be fine.

I think you're meant to precook dried lentils anyway before slow cooking.

Bramshott · 06/02/2024 15:42

Red lentils cook pretty quick - I'd check them after an hour

Yoyoyo1 · 06/02/2024 15:43

Thanks, I've already put them in the slow cooker.

Put the whole thing in a pan and simmer reasonably agressively on the hob, red lentils will be done in 20 mins.

Yoyoyo1 · 06/02/2024 15:46

Will they be safe to eat if i decide to cook in the slow cooker?

As long as they’re mushy they’ll be fine. An hour in the slow cooker will be enough, it’s only 20 minutes or so of boiling on the hob.

Great thank you
