What would you do with 4 tubs of clotted cream?

Just picked up 4 tubs of clotted cream reduced to 14p each. Obviously I could just eat loads of scones over the next couple of days but I'm not sure thats the best plan. Any ideas on what to do with it? ice cream?

can it be frozen?

Doyoumind · 24/01/2024 19:11

Yes, ice cream, but can't you just freeze for use later?

MuchTooTired · 24/01/2024 19:11

My only thought was so many delicious scones and jam!

rookiemere · 24/01/2024 19:12

Use some of it in a deliciously creamy curry.

Big rice pudding in the slow cooker?

CurtainsUp · 24/01/2024 19:13

You can freeze clotted cream. I’d freeze half and make scones for the other half now.

PicklesAndTequila · 24/01/2024 19:13

I'd get a spoon!

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 24/01/2024 19:13

Freeze some, eat some. Love a bargain!

MotherOfDragonflies · 24/01/2024 19:13

I could freeze it but its already short dated and googling suggests it might come out crumbly so perhaps only really good for cooking with after being in the freezer anyway.

With Gousto & hellofresh curry recipes like tikka masala they often have clotted cream as an ingredient

Lupin61 · 24/01/2024 19:14

Also something like a cream of tomato soup

Reallybadidea · 24/01/2024 19:15

I've frozen it in the past and it's come out absolutely fine

Keepingittogetherstepbystep · 24/01/2024 19:16

I did the exact same thing just after Christmas! We froze it and have defrosted one pot so far. It's come out perfect, better than cream usually defrost. Defrost slowly in fridge.

Notsandwiches · 24/01/2024 19:17

Fudge.

MotherOfDragonflies · 24/01/2024 19:18

I've never actually cooked using clotted cream. Would I literally sub it in for double cream.

A few of my guosto recipes use clotted cream for things like curries and creamy pasta dishes. Really lovely ☺️

Make butter. I had some leftover whipping cream and made butter with it. You can find a recipe on line.

Eton mess style pudding with clotted cream, meringue and fruit compote, you could use apple and blackberries, blueberries, poached spiced plums etc etc.

Make fruit fool with clotted cream, stewed cinnamon apples and mincemeat. Combine the cream with custard or yoghurt for a lighter texture.

Make Pineapple Romanoff for the ultimate indulgent pudding, yet so quick and simple!

Ive just been looking and it looks like clotted cream is made by heating cream and so you can't then make butter from it. I had no idea!

Make butter!

SiobhanSharpe · 24/01/2024 19:46

You could use it in Indian recipes like dahl makhani and butter chicken -- both gorgeous.
BTW i've found that clotted cream can still be ok for a little while after it's 'use-by' date.
