Healthy flapjack recipe?

I love a flapjack and I've made several recipes recently that are full of natural ingredients.

However, they're so calorific with all the bloody nuts/nut butter etc. I know they're healthier than a chocolate bar but I'd love to find a recipe that's bulked out with something lower in calories.

Any ideas?

🍌 Banana. Essentially just oats and banana and whatever you want to sweeten it.

However it is sadness compared with proper butter & syrup flapjacks!

I would love some of your healthier recipes with nut butters etc!

Have a look on ambitious kitchen on facebook, lots of different ones but they're all 250 calories a slice

I mean, you can make a "healthy version", but it's gonna taste like horse shit. Flapjacks are by nature squidgy, sweet, buttery and indulgent.

You'd be better off just eating foods that don't contain the things you want to avoid. Like fruit, or carrots. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is a good recipe, always comes out well and less gooey than most. Still 212 calories per slice but feels healthier and very few ingredients

Yeah I know, and I do the majority of the time. I just want something that feels like a treat, but is very nutritious...but not too high calorie 😂 the holy grail!

I make mine with low fat fake buttery spread stuff, everyone loves them!

Also pumpkin seeds instead of nuts?

I made Joe Wicks recipe last week. They're nice.

I have no idea about the calorie count, but I use Nigella Lawson's breakfast bar recipe.
It's flapjack using a tin of condensed milk as the binder so no butter or syrup.
No nut butter, the recipe suggests nuts in it but you could just leave it out, or sub in something else, it's very forgiving.
I'd probably just cut them into smaller bits to reduce the calories.

You can use golden syrup instead, which is what I did.

I've just had a brainwave about what I could add to bulk them out...I could chop up some plain popcorn (I just want to make each one bigger so I'm not tempted to eat two basically)
