Mushroom and pea Indian side dish - what the hell is it called?

I used to make a really nice side with sliced onions, peas and mushrooms, it was quite dry with no tomatoes or coconut milk. The book is long gone so I can't remember which spices went in, definitely turmeric, possibly fennel, but I think there's something else. Google isn't helping. Does this ring any bells?

No idea what your dish is called or what was in it, but I cook north Indian food pretty much every day and, as well as what you mentioned, I'd be thinking along the lines of cumin, coriander powder, maybe garam masala.
Alternatively, mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds as well as what you mentioned.

Was it mater mushroom? My MIL used to make quite a dry version of it and it sounds very similar to the side dish you’re making. There was ginger, garlic cumin seeds, turmeric, occasionally tomato paste, chilli powder, coriander and garam masala. You’ve reminded me how much I miss her cooking, she taught me the recipes and how to cook them but mine just doesn’t taste the same!

@BloodandGlitter that's sounds delicious- I've saved it as I'm trying to eat veggies couple of times a week

There was definitely no tomato in it, but maybe g masala and coriander. I think I will just have a go and see if it matches my memories.
