I have done a search but can't find a recent post.

Is anyone else having trouble accessing the recipes? It seems to have become a subscription site.

I thought that the app was subscription but the website was free? Have they changed it ?

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 16/01/2024 12:19

I got rid of the app ages ago because it was subscription but if you google the recipe it normally comes up without any need to pay.

butterflymum · 16/01/2024 12:20

Just about to make a soup.....recipe is free to view on their website (or was 10 mins ago).Soup for lunch!

Glitterbiscuits · 16/01/2024 12:22

I googled for a recipe. Decide I wanted to read the BBC one but it's only taking me to the title and then the option to subscribe.
I'm just getting a preview

@butterflymum I can get the full recipe when I click on your link.

This is what I'm seeing.

I don't get that message for the same recipe. Are you based in the UK? They might put restrictions on overseas access.

Glitterbiscuits · 16/01/2024 12:34

Yes I'm in the uk and a regular user of the BBC recipes.
It was the same yesterday

RampantIvy · 16/01/2024 12:36

@Glitterbiscuits did you try my link?
I did have trouble accessing the recipes a while back. I was using my laptop and when I refreshed the page I could access them.

Are you using a VPN? They can be set to appear as if you are in another country. DH does this to watch football matches.

Glitterbiscuits · 16/01/2024 12:38

Interesting @RampantIvy

I can access the recipe properly if I start at BBC site

But not from the recipe link directly from Google.

How odd.

Thanks for looking everyone. I'd be a bit lost without this website despite more recipe books than I will ever need.

Lost without Mumsnet too

Glitterbiscuits · 16/01/2024 12:39

Not a VPN. I'm not sure what that is!

I'm using an IPad. I haven't tried the PC or phone

Perhaps I should dig into my settings. Although everything else is ok.

Has the Google link opened the page up in the app? That doesn’t look like an internet browser, looks like the app!

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 16/01/2024 12:42

Is it the Mary cadogan no bake chocolate tart ? I can see it fine, I'm using an iPad on my home WiFi and using safari

Trahlalalala · 16/01/2024 12:46

BBC Good Food is the only foolproof recipe site in my experience, I've never had a disaster or disappointment so I can understand the frustration if you can't get in!

Glitterbiscuits · 16/01/2024 12:48

@Brewandhoney ! You cracked it! Thank you.

I have no recollection of installing the App but that's what happened

OP posts:
Glitterbiscuits · 16/01/2024 12:49

@StiffyByngsDogBartholomew Yes! We got some biscuits for Christmas that no one likes so this is my excuse to use them up.

I’d be lost without this website too. I have started printing off some old favourite recipes.

Glitterbiscuits · 16/01/2024 12:50

Interestingly enough on the main BBC good food site ( accessed properly) some recipes now state App Only

OP posts:
spongecakeappleslice · 16/01/2024 13:06

There’s a free app called Copy Me That - I save all my online recipes in to there - excellent app

butterflymum · 16/01/2024 14:14

Our soup was lovely...didn't have everything in for it, so made a few adaptations, but one to make again. 👌

There's a difference between BBC recipes & BBC Good Food magazine recipes.

I stopped used the magazine recipes after spotting a number of mistakes in different recipes.

RampantIvy · 16/01/2024 18:38

Some of the recipes have been contributed by the readers and won't have been rigorously tested.
