Are red and green chillis interchangeable in recipes?

Sorry if this is a stupid question! I've only just become brave enough to cook with fresh chillis and am a bit worried I'll cook something too spicy to eat!

Thanks

yes

for the complete pussy, as you admit you are, remove the seeds before adding to your cooking. The heat is all in the seeds and the white membrane which surrounds them

And stay well away from Scotch Bonnets

I concur with my colleague (hi Suze) and also it is worth remembering that the smaller the chilli is the hotter it is.

I prefer certain colours wtih certain things but that is just me being me

they are totally interchangeable

and I like 2 birds eye with seeds and membrane - BRING IT ON!!!

and never bother with the big dutch ones they are hopeless

we had a chilli plant once, I got all giddy when one red one sprouted

refused to take it off to cook it and watched it shrivel instead
