My pasta machine broke! And it was an expensive one!

Grrr! Am so cross.
It was one of those Imperial ones that cost £40

Turns out it might look all metal and solid, but inside there is a plastic component that takes all the force when you turn the handle. My dough was a bit too stiff and the plastic thing just broke.

And I was in the middle of making extra-nice pasta with lots of egg yolks.

Still. Worse things happen at sea, I suppose.

I'd be pissed at that crappy plastic bit - at least if it was all plastic you would have known what you were buying.

How long had you had it?

This is such a middle class thread title

Oh I know Noddy

Also, a moment after I posted, MartianBishop posted that her dh was feeling very very sick yesterday morning, so I spent the rest of the day hanging my head in shame thinking 'F* me, I am so lucky that the worst thing I have got to worry about is my pasta machine breaking.'

At least you have used yours. DH asked for one from his mum for Christmas years ago and it has never been out of the box. We have to skirt around the subject when she invariably asked if we have used it...Thought he was being optimistic thinking we'd have time to make our own pasta (bet even Delia doesn't do that these days).
