Choc brownies - dead easy, and can be made in advance.

FatFilledTrottyPuss · 29/12/2023 15:18

Tiramisu. So easy!

HardcoreLadyType · 29/12/2023 15:20

Was going to say brownies.

If you need a lot, do a few different batches (eg brownies with nuts, blondies with white chocolate chips, peanut butter brownies, salted caramel brownies…)

Agree tiramisu is dead easy. Lemon posset is easy too but sounds like you might be citrused out. Or Nigella’s chocolate pots (basically chocolate fondant) always go down well but very rich so make small ones.

We’re having a party and I’m doing tiramisu

It’s easy and you can do it the day before and put in the fridge

My mum used to do a winter fruit salad of tinned and dried fruit and I'm considering that - can't face something heavy/creamy/ chocolatey after Christmas.

Banoffee pie is super easy, just build and whip some cream for the top.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/12/2023 16:07

Chocolate Brownies really need 24 hours to mature and are ideal to freeze .

Does anyone want to share their tried'n'trusted Tiramisu recipe ?
TIA

Yes - Banoffee Pie Grin

minipie · 29/12/2023 16:11

Banoffee pie is even easier if you buy the Carnation pre made caramel! (Top tip do not stir it, just spoon it directly onto base).

Ooh, do you have a recipe for the chocolate pots mini?

TheSpottedZebra · 29/12/2023 16:52

Bread and butter pudding, using bought custard and unwanted panettone?

Affogato- pre scoop and re freeze balls of vanilla ice cream. To serve, put ice cream balls into dish, then tip espresso over them.

Self saucing pudding if you want a traditional big dish of something delicious to serve up. You can pre make the wet and the dry, then just tip the wet over the dry and bake.

Meringue Gelato Cake - very easy. 30g dark chocolate broken into shards. Whip 300ml pot double cream until just holding into peaks, add chocolate shards and a pack of crushed meringue nests, mix together . Put into a cling film lined loaf tin, freeze overnight and then just remove when ready to serve. I drizzle ready made chocolate sauce over it.

Trifle.
Or Pavlova, which looks amazing and is very easy.

londonmummy1966 · 29/12/2023 17:14

Cook do a winter pudding (like a summer pudding but seasonal) that would be easy to replicate with a mixed berry and cranberry compote and some bread. Might be nice warm with custard too.

Too late for new years obvs but just in case, Cheat tiramisu recipe.
400ml double cream
250 marscapone or ricotta
3tbs caster sugar or to taste.
100ml Marsala
Whisk together until thick.

Grated dark chocolate

200ml strong coffee plus 100ml Marsala wine.
1 packet of savoiardi sponge fingers.
Dunk the sponge fingers into the coffee/booze for a few seconds each then layer half into the bottom of a dish. Dollop half the cream mixture on top and sprinkle over grated dark chocolate. Then layer the rest of the sponge fingers over that then the rest of the cream mix. Then more grated chocolate to finish.
I divide the coffee into 2 dishes before dunking the sponges in to make sure I’ve got them equally soaked for both layers. It takes less than 15 minutes to make and is so delicious I’ve made it twice this week already as dd can’t stop eating it.
