Your favourite dessert that includes chocolate and cream

I've been catering for a guest who can't have cream, doesn't like the plant based alternatives and also can't eat chocolate. This has made me crave a decadent chocolate and cream dessert, we've other friends over tomorrow so will use the excuse to fulfil my craving!
I absolutely love Delia's squidgy chocolate log but we've had that recently.
Id prefer something 'cakey' to a trifle, possibly a good old fashioned Black Forest gateau. I am googling and scouring my recipe books but thought I'd ask on here if anyone has an absolute favourite that fits the bill. Thank you

Delias chocolate bread and butter pudding.

I like chocolate fudge cake served with pouring cream. First time someone suggested cream on chocolate cake I was aghast but it is delicious.

Black Forest is always the answer!

Nigella's chocolate Guinness cake?
Or any rich flourless chocolate torte served with mountains of cream. Smitten kitchen has a nice red wine version. Sachertorte is always great too.

red wine chocolate cake

The intersection of chocolate and red wine is unforgettable here in a fudgy one-bowl cake.

Double cream whipped up and a ton of Nutella beaten in. Serve with thin biscuits

Helenahandkart · 27/12/2023 12:03

A quick supermarket car park choux bun should satisfy that craving.

I came on to say the Delia torte, but Mississippi mud pie fits the brief too.

Asda have a surprisingly very good Black Forest gateau this year if you've got a store close by

FlyingUnicornWings · 27/12/2023 14:12

@Helenahandkart i thought I was the only one who did this!

Delia's chocolate truffle torte

From her Christmas book. Incredibly rich, but very gorgeous.

I make this most years, have done individual ones this year in saved Gu ramekins!!

BigPussyEnergy · 27/12/2023 15:36

I made chocolate orange bread and butter pudding, made marmalade sandwiches, dunked them in melted butter, sprinkled dark chocolate chips in between then covered with a custard of eggs, cream, milk, brown sugar, orange zest and cocoa. Baked 45 mins and it was amaaaaazing!

could always serve that with more cream too 😋

sprigatito · 27/12/2023 15:40

Our dessert tonight is Black Forest trifle. Black cherry jelly, chocolate cake soaked in sour cherry jam, chocolate custard, chocolate mousse, whipped cream, cherries and chocolate curls on top. Really looking forward to it.

OMGitsnotgood · 28/12/2023 11:38

Thank you all so much
