Can you freeze shop bought panettone?

I have been given a lovely panettone which is big and will not be all used up straight away.

Is it possible to freeze it? The writing on the wrapping was in Italian so I couldn't see any instructions.

Yes, I’ve done it before. But it lasts ages so can usually be kept for a few weeks without freezing. And it makes great bread and butter pudding if you do find it’s gone stale.

Thank you Karma, did you just slice it up and put it in a freezer bag?

Yes, just slice and bag up in freezer. The only way I can stop myself eating the whole thing.

Toasts well from frozen or thaw for eating/making bread & butter pudding

We were still eating last year’s panettone in July if you choose not to freeze it.
