I won a Ham in a raffle which is cooked. Should I glaze it or does it not matter? It weighs around 3.3kgs. Thank you😀

You don’t have to but it’s yummy!

Thank you @ItsMyPartyParty, I will definitely taste the difference then?

I wouldn't. It may just be that I am particularly shite at glazing ham, but all of my efforts have resulted in burnt sugar/honey (depending on the recipe) on the bottom of the pan, and no noticeable difference to the meat. :(

If it's already cooked I don't see the point.

Thank you @JustCuriousASHP and @ThePoshUns - I don't want to stick it in the oven for ages if it is not going to make a significant difference. It is 28C here at the moment (NZ). And I should also add that I am no cook!😁

Ah in that case I'd just slice it and have it cold with a nice chutney

CornedBeef451 · 22/12/2023 04:43

I prefer it unglazed!

Catsknowbest · 22/12/2023 04:46

I used to glaze mine but now I do a gammon joint in the slow cooker in cola, it's yummy. But as yours is already cooked sounds like you can glaze or not as you desire 😊 enjoy

StoatofDisarray · 22/12/2023 07:07

I prefer it unglazed because that makes it more versatile.

marylou25 · 22/12/2023 09:06

I prefer them unglazed too, I have decided I dislike any sweet flavour added and most glazes are, then I can decide to eat it anyway I like with any added flavours which is more versatile. I think most of it is done just for appearance!

Thanks so much everyone. Unglazed ham it is. Have a good Christmas everyone🎄🍷
