Nigella’s Malteaser Cake

I’m not a baker but I told my DC I’ll make this for them over Christmas.

The recipe calls for two 8 inch loose bottomed cake tins. I have got two cake tins but they measure 7 and a half inches. That’s measuring the bottom tray.

How would I adjust the ingredients? I don’t want to buy new tins. Thank you.

I’d just make the recipe as directed.

Yep totally fine

It’s a great cake and works every time - your tins will be fine.

It will be fine … if there is too much of a mix I tend to stick any leftover into a cupcake case

Keep recipe the same, not enough difference to matter unless you have very low sided tins, if so line sides with parchment or just make a cupcake or two out of surplus, cooks perk!

Thank you everyone, appreciate the responses. Finger crossed, cakes aren’t my thing normally but what’s the worse that could happen! Thanks again.
