Need some inspo for very easy vegan or dairy free puddings for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Limited time to prep so easier the better.

Do you want to make from scratch? Or premade?

Poached pears or peaches served with Swedish Glacé vegan ice cream.

Fruit tart made with jusroll vegan pastry

Winter fruit compote, pears plums, blackberries, apples gently poached together, you could add dried figs, apricots, mulberries etc if liked. Serve warm or cold.

Vegan Christmas pudding?

AdaColeman · 18/12/2023 06:41

Baked apples in the microwave, stuff with chopped dried fruits. Look on line for instructions.

I'm working all over Christmas this year so have gone pre bought. I'm holding out hope of finding a yule log in waitrose, but have also ordered an asda bakery cherry pie and an asda extra special frozen chocolate torte, both accidentally vegan. And then I have an assortment of vegan cream/custard/ice cream for people to choose from.

I was tempted by the vegan trifles but at 7 quid when their non vegan counterpart is 2 quid and almost twice the size, I may stretch to making my own!

SnowsFalling · 18/12/2023 06:51

Vegan: poached pears in wine.
Baked bananas and cranberries (slice a banana in half for everyone lay in a baking dish. Tip a tub of cranberries, more sugar than you think - about a cupful, and a splash of water into a pan. Boil until most cranberries have burst. Pour over bananas and put in over, 180C, for about half an hour.

Dairy free:
Meringues with fruit
Spanish orange cake

These are incredible, from my favourite intolerant cookbook (the intolerant gourmet). You could make it all ahead and warm up on the day.

I bought a Christmas pudding from M&S that wasn't labelled or advertised as vegan, but is ( my vegan friend scrutinised the label for me). But yeah, something fruity for after Christmas dinner!

I'm having the same trifle debate!

I bought the trifle 🙈

And not one but two of the Aldi chocolate cookie pots. I'll get into shape for January, although that shape is likely to be a blob.

Melt a big bar of dairy free chocolate in a Bain Marie (Green and Blacks dark with cherries or orange is good). Pour in one 250ml pot of long life single soya cream. Add alcohol of choice if you wish (eg brandy). Stir and pour into little pots. Put in fridge and wait to set. Takes about 20 mins from starting to fridge, and most of that is waiting for the chocolate to melt.

Dairy free sticky toffee pudding. Can be made in advance. Google vickys dairy free sticky toffee pudding. It's the best recipe and isn't hard

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 23/12/2023 19:01

We’re vegan and having sticky toffee pudding and Swedish Glace dairy-free vanilla ice cream

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 23/12/2023 19:12

Avocado chocolate mousse

Vegan brownies

RingingInMyEars · 23/12/2023 19:20

We bought the M and S vegan chocolate dessert (mini tortes or something like that?) and it was delicious - got some of their plant vanilla ice cream with it. The vegans all said it was lovely today.

MooQuackNeigh · 23/12/2023 19:23

Jam tarts made with supermarket pastry. Most pastry is vegan these days. Covers both your dietary restrictions.

You could go fancyer with other combinations of pastry and fruit, strudel, jam twist, jammy pin wheels. Use several different jam flavours for nice colours. Custard/elmlea for topping

elrider · 23/12/2023 19:27

I bought 3 of the stupidly priced trifles!😂

Admittedly, not all for one dinner - I have some guests at Christmas dinner who will definitely eat one or two of them (and I'll have some too) then I needed a selection of desserts for a Boxing Day Christmas dinner with the other side of the family. Other things I've bought include M&S vegan mince pies, Sainsbury's mini vegan mince pies, Sainsbury's apple pie, vegan custard and cream, and should also have a homemade apple crumble made with vegan butter. None of it is necessarily posh and fancy, but it should cover everyone's tastes as I know a fair few always go for apple based puddings and a fair few always go for trifle, and some will claim to be too full for pudding but will eat a mince pie!

SweetPeaPods · 04/01/2024 14:42

I ended up making my own trifle. Alpro custard and coconut collaborative double cream worked a treat. Much better texture than the elmlea cream.
Plus a Betty Crocker chocolate fudge cake.
