M&S iced madeira cake

Has any one seen M&S Christmas, iced madeira in store? It is my christmas treat, I can't stand all the fruit cakes. They didn't produce it during covid but it made a return last year. No where to be seen so far this year .

I hate fruit cake, mince pies and basically all traditional Christmas desserts! I used to love a chocolate pudding M&S did years ago. It was off the shelves and in a large plastic bowl tub, just like the fruit ones. I have never ever found another that even compared to it. Every year I look to see if they have brought it back, I bet if they did it wouldn't be as nice anyway.
I didn't even know they did the Christmas cake style madeira! I will be watching this thread with interest. I could make these things myself, but sometimes you just need to have the ease of buying it!

For some reason it tastes totally different to the usual madeira they sell. It has been around for years and Im just hoping they haven't dropped it this year. Our local Markies is stuffed to the gills with Christmas food but sadly so far no madeira.

I'm going to M&S this weekend, if I see it I will let you know!

A friend of mine is after one of these. Yesterday she said: 'M&S Ashford had a ‘coming soon’ label for the Madeira cake so I asked them and they scanned it and said it’s due in tomorrow or Sunday!'

Ocado don't have an M&S iced madeira cake, just a plain one or one with cherries. Very late for Christmas stock to be arriving!

You could make a madeira if you can’t find it? It’s quite an easy cake even if you aren’t a baker.

@Iknowsomeonesimilar I think op just liked that one. I know sometimes when there is just one particular baked good you like, it can be difficult to recreate it exactly the same (esp when you've had it for years). I am an avid baker and don't buy a lot of store bought cakes. There is just one coffee cake I absolutely love, I just never can make one quite the same.

Ocado have got two sizes of M&S iced Madeira cake, large (£18) and 500 and something grammes at £7.
So they are available, though perhaps only at certain stores. If you have a M&S Food only store nearby, I'd try there.

Aha. Out of stock for me. I didn't want one, fortunately, but that explains why it didn't even show up when I searched half an hour ago. How odd.

It was always my Christmas treat as well. I think you might be looking too early. They usually bring it out a week before Christmas because it doesn’t keep well.

Hi op, I've been in to m&s and it wasn't in the store I went to, just birthday cakes, yule logs, bar cakes etc.
