Ready made frosting

Are any of the ready made chocolate icing/frostings any good? I have so much to do this week, including a birthday cake, that buying ready made would give me back some precious minutes!

I like the betty Crocker ones, I really like the chocolate fudge and the cream cheese ones. They aren't as good as really well done homemade, but they are definitely good enough. Just make sure you leave it in a nice warm room and give it a good stir before using it to make it easier to pipe or spread. It's usually quite solid from being compacted into the pot.

Yes Betty Crocker is fine

Fab, thanks. It’ll be demolished by 20 5 year olds, so “good enough” is definitely good enough!

The best kids cake I ever made was chocolate cake with Betty Crocker chocolate fudge icing slapped on in a not very refined way, then I covered it with crushed up Oreo's to look like mud and a load of jelly worms, spiders and any other insect jelly sweets I could find. Took minutes to decorate, looked effective and the kids loved it.

Sounds amazing!

Whipping tubs of Betty Crocker icing is meant to give better results.

I've never used it BTW, just seen it done in recipes etc

Glad it went down well. Sometimes good enough really is good enough.
