Slow cooker gammon

We have friends coming for dinner on Sunday, but with a busy day out of the house before they arrive, I need something I can slow cook.

Please could someone share how to slow cook a gammon? I can finish it off in the air fryer if needed to crisp it up. Friend’s children are quite fussy, so I don’t think any exotic liquid bases will go down well 😬

I just lob it in with 200g brown sugar and a teaspoon of grainy mustard. You can serve the liquid as sauce for the non fussy ones. No crisping required I don’t think.

Ooh sounds lovely, thank you. Do you add water? Sorry for the silly question; can’t believe I’ve got to the age I am and never slow cooked a gammon 🤦‍♀️

Depending how big it is I would give at least 6 hours to get falling apart gammon.

I just cover with with either

Full fat coke
Pear or apple cider

Before placing in oven at the end I brush it with a mix of mustard and honey.

My mum does it with just sugar and no liquid.

Nigella is goddess of ham, either cover in Coca Cola , or just cover in treacle , no liquid, just as nice but I'd line the slow cooker in this instance , no need to crisp. My favourite thing to have with roast ham is baked potatoes scooped out mash with butter and cheese and back in oven , can have these ready in fridge

as Quitelikeacatslife says; this is what you need 😋

Just put it in the slow cooker with half an inch of hot water. A large one I'd do all day.

Then oik it out and shred it.

If you empty the liquid out of the pot and put half back with most of a bottle of barbecue sauce til it's warmed that gives a choice of meat.

Then jacket potatoes, a green salad and some nice coleslaw.

Do people not bother soaking the salt out of it?

Thank you all; it sounds like I shouldn’t be able to go wrong!
