Poor quality citrus fruit

Three times ordered easy peelers from Ocado this season and every time they're shrivelled, dry and lacking juice or flavour. Is it a poor year for citrus fruit or is this a supply issue (possibly due to Gaza war??) or just Ocado? Where are you getting your juicy fruit from at the moment?

I hate it when this happens... when they just taste like slightly sweet water.
I googled it and the concensus was that they were old.
It's even worse when they are dry.

Same here - I bought a net of satsumas from Sainsburys and they were just as you describe.

Very disappointing.

I associate satsumas / Clementines being at their best at Christmas / January and we're not quite there yet. I'd just wait a bit longer before getting any more.

So if old then probably a supply issue. Annoying - I like to buy seasonally and it should be citrus season around now!

I've been getting the satsumas in a cardboard box for £2 from Tesco, I've just had my 3rd of the day! They are delicious

I think it can be hit and miss until the new season Spanish citrus fruits come in ( must be nearing the end of South Africa’s season). I just hope the very dry weather they’ve been having won’t have affected the quality too much.

https://www.crowdfarming.com/en/seasonal-organic-boxes I've used this website before, and it's been brilliant! The only problem is that they only do HUGE boxes, so you might need to rope in a few friends to share with. But it's seasonal, direct from the growers, and amazingly cheap. They even email you to say 'We've just picked your oranges, and are printing your address label now.' They're all small mostly family run businesses, so I get to feel like I'm a nice person for supporting them!

Buy seasonal organic boxes direct from the farmer | CrowdFarming

At CrowdFarming you buy seasonal organic boxes and organic vegetables direct from the farmer without middlemen, allowing them to get a fair price for their harvest.
