I am a vegetarian and have found my chlorestrol is too high. Any good foods to lower it? I also eat too much white pasta!

Oatmeal? Raw almonds are also good.

I think you need to stop the pasta and go for more green veg. porridge is good and add some seeds to it; also pumpkin seeds etc will help.

I am doing this all myself. an apple a day; no more bread, you can also buy the cholesterol lowering spread for oatcakes and ryvita etc

Look on the heart uk website - loads of great cholesterol lowering advice and recipes on there.

Lots more fruit, veg, whole grains, basically think lots of fibre and as unprocessed as possible.

Garlic

Also, if you are vegetarian rather than vegan, cut down on cheese, butter, full-fat yoghurt, pastry, basically anything with saturated fat in it. That includes palm and coconut oil, which are hidden in a lot of chocolate, cakes, biscuits, pastry and veggie/vegan processed food.

Pulses! Pulses are great for lowering cholesterol.

I am in the same boat but not vegetarian. In August my cholesterol was 7.6, it's now 5.3.

I gave up: bad fats, refined carbs (wholewheat pasta once a week and one slice of wholemeal bread a week), red meat (except once a week), sugar and alcohol. Eating more nuts, brown rice, leafy greens and fruit. It means no pastry, no white sauces, no cakes or pies.

I am also taking sterols.

All the hunger spikes have gone, I've lost 24lb, my aches and pains have disappeared and so have the little patches of eczema. I am convinced I may have a wheat intolerance.

A very simple change is to switch your milk to oat milk.

Durum pasta is fine, as is fresh egg pasta. Not all pastas are equal! Try pasta fagioli, the added beans and veg make it a good solid meal.

Also to a pp, full fat Greek yoghurt is actually good for reducing KDL cholesterol. Again, not all fats are equal. Fermented foods in general very good for cholesterol.
