Depends what meat tbh

If they had been kept in the fridge and smelt ok, I would chance them, but make sure they were properly cooked.

Whalewatchers · 20/11/2023 18:49

Yes if they look and smell okay. they are processed so 48 hrs in the fridge really shouldn't matter. Although it you are veggie, maybe you shouldn't give them to someone else to test 🤣

kittythames · 20/11/2023 18:52

No I wouldn't. I think meat that has been processed like that definitely goes off faster than unprocessed meat. You should be able to tell from the colour and the smell though.

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 20/11/2023 18:52

I would scrutinise them for pink blobs (how mould manifests on meat) and touch them to see if they were slimy. Also would smell. Our meat drawer keeps things so cold I've been OK eating chicken three days past (that was subjected to the above scrutiny) 😳

In summary, probably yes.

Excellent. Thanks all. They are sizzling. Will report back if D's develops food poisoning.

Once upon a time, we didn't have use by or sell by dates on stuff. We used common sense and our noses. And I'm still here to tell the tale!
