...in my mushroom stroganoff?? We don't drink white wine and I can't find any of that cooking white wine. Very reluctant to buy a bottle of vino for 2 tablespoons!!!!

no white wine vinegar? Sherry, port, red wine vinegar? All of those work well in stroganoff.

I'd buy a bottle of white wine vinegar, personally. I have both red and white to use when I don't have any real wine in.

tesco used to do little cans of white wine, about half a glass worth. sherry would work too, and it keeps in the fridge for ages and ages...

oooh now i do have white wine vinegar - would i use less? I also have lemons and limes. I always overdo the wine vinegar and end up throwing stuff away so I'm a bit scared of it

2 tbsps sounds fine to me, depends how much you are making. If you aren't sure, add a little at a time.

dont use lemon and white wine, it will be too acidic. I would personally use the vinegar, as the mushrooms tend to soak up flavour very quickly and I think they might go lemony!
