Hello I am in a holiday cottage and I am trying to make Nigella’s sticky gingerbread recipe for a friend who we will be visiting on Monday.

It requires a baking dish approx 30x20x5 cm but there are no rectangular cake pans here, only a set of 23cm, 20cm and 28 cm (I think).

Does anyone have any idea please about how to adapt this recipe for a round tin?

I've had this before - Google convert round cake to square - there's calculators available, should do the trick

Doh - I meant convert square to round Grin

how deep are the round tins?

Thank you for these very useful replies!

blowthemakiss ah sorry it wouldn’t have occurred to me to Google that; it should have done though!

simonthedog they are quite deep, about eight to 10 centimetres I think. They are not flat Victoria sponge tins. There are the deep ones you can make a Christmas cake in.

The are of the rectangular tin is 600cm2 - the area of the 28cm round tin is 615cm so I'd say the 28cm round tin is close enough without adapting the recipe.

Thank you so much for this romeosierraoscar that’s very helpful indeed!
