New electric mini oven: Can I wrap fish/ chicken in aluminium foil?

I've just bought a mini oven, (Dualit 89220 Mini Oven, Black) as our main oven (gas) has broken. I'm wondering if anyone here is familiar with cooking in an electric mini oven as this is my first?

Usually, when I cook, I'd wrap fish/ chicken fillets in lightly oiled aluminium foil and then put them on a baking tray in the oven. So I assumed that this is also how to cook food in a mini oven too.

However, the mini oven instructions state "Oversized foods, metal foil packages and utensils must not be inserted in the appliance" and also "Do not cover crumb tray or any part of the appliance with metal foil, this will cause overheating of the appliance".

So that seems to imply that, like with a microwave oven, you can't have anything wrapped in aluminium foil inside the oven. Is that right? Feel a bit stupid to be asking but the instructions aren't clear.

Are you supposed to put the food to be cooked only on the wire shelves that come with the appliance? If there are metal shelves, then why can't you use aluminium foil?

We had one of these for 2 years when we lived abroad in Asia. The problem is the heating element is quite close to the food so if you add oil then wrap in foil and the oil (or the fat inherent in the food) starts spitting too close to the element, it can cause a fire more easily. We did have to chuck our dinner out of the window once because the bloody thing caught fire from oil spitting on the heating element.

@SisterMichaelsHabit that sounds really scary! So, should no oil be used in cooking in the mini oven? We often cook oily fish like salmon fillets and that was the whole reason to buy a mini oven. Would these be unsafe to cook?

Also, should no silver foil be used to wrap foods either?

If oil and silver foil are unsafe, would I just put fish or chicken fillets on the wire rack or should I put them in a covered pyrex dish?

Anyone? Not sure if mini ovens are so unusual that no one else has one?
