Pineapple juice

I needed some for a sweet & sour recipe that I love.
I needed 150ml out of 1 litre carton, & never know what to do with the rest as I can only freeze some of it. The little pub bottles are only available in 6-packs at huge expense.
We don't drink it. We don't normally eat sweet things.

So, what I can I do with the rest of it in SAVOURY dishes, please ?

Jamaican-Style Butternut Squash & Coconut Stew is a recipe I really like.

If you haven't already bought the juice, maybe tinned pineapple in juice might be a solution. The leftover pineapple could be used up in pineapple salsa or something like this chicken, pineapple and nduja bake if you don't usually snack on fruit.

Ching He Huang has a nice recipe for sweet and sour sauce in one of her books. Chinese food made easy or some such I think. I'm sure it or similar would be online.

I did a slow cooker recipe with pork chops and pineapple a while ago and it was really nice. I expect anything porky would be good with it in a slow cooker/slow cooked.

Think the recipe I used was called something like hawaiian pork

If you can’t find a recipe you like, freeze it in ice cube cartons or small amounts. Personally , I like it as an ice cube with ginger, but it freezes well for future use in a savoury recipe you like

I also freeze it for next time, and I don't have any recipe suggestions for you beyond sweet and sour style dishes, however I started buying my pineapple juice from Morrisons. They sell a pack of 3 cartons (200ml) for a pound.

Next time buy a small tin of pineapple and chuck the pineapple in he dish too.

Scampuss · 10/11/2023 20:16

Why don't you make a vat of your sweet and sour using all the juice (scale up your recipe) and then freeze the sauce in portions.

Pineapple juice makes an excellent marinade for all kinds of meat.

Thanks for the replies.

Was going to suggest this.

Also, pineapple juice wirb ginger ale and a couple of mint sprigs is a really refreshing drink, and the ginger ale counteracts the sweetness of the pineapple. First had it at a BBQ when I was driving and loved it. Have since found that it works well with a splash of gin or vodka!

Buy a tin of pineapple instead
I use half a tin of pineapple inc the liquid and freeze the other half for next time

Marinade gammon with pineapple juice, red wine, honey and garlic. 2-3 days then bake in the oven. Literally delicious!!
