Hot chocolate - powder vs bombs vs stirrers

I’ve never tried hot chocolate bombs or stirrers, but thinking of giving some as a present. Are they as good as powder? Or are they overrated?

No, my DD is a big hot chocolate fan and she doesn’t like them.

My children where really amused by the animal shaped bombs, they had a dinosaur wearing a floatie ring once! The marshmallows inside however are pretty pointless, as by the time it's stirred enough to melt the chocolate, they melt too.

Thanks @DustyLee123 that confirms my suspicions

I once got hot chocolate which was basically flakes of dark chocolate, you could eat them from the jar, it was the best.

Whittard do amazing hot chocolate powder for a gift. I find the bombs/stirrers gimmicky.

Complete waste of of money but a chocolate bomb or stirrer would make a fun stocking filler although a bag of chocolate coins is better imho

The bombs are ok but don't make for a very strong hot chocolate. But they are better than stirrers. Depends on how people like their hot chocolate. The bombs are cute gifts but I don't rate the taste. Flakes are the way to go, but you have to be picky about quality of cocoa percentage in the chocolate because they can be all sugar too.....

They’re massively overrated and gimmicky. The bombs are pretty to look at as they begin to melt and release the marshmallows, kids would probably find them fun but when it comes to taste powdered is far better.

Seconding the Whittard comment. I bought my niece a posh hot chocolate set from them a few years ago and she loved it. Hotel Chocolat is also great.
