melt a mars bar in with the chocolate

WaynettaSlob · 11/03/2008 08:29

Erm....good chocolate, rice krispies, make sure you set them in a fridge and they are rock hard.

Also when stirring in the krispies do it really gently so you don't break them.
and put in fewer krispies than you think you should, to make them more chocolatey.

Can't help with the shreddies I'm afraid.

geordiemacminx · 11/03/2008 08:34

Cornflakes might be easier than shredded wheat for a nest like appearance?

southernbelle77 · 11/03/2008 08:41

I am going to use cornflakes. Not sure shredded wheat would actually work, although never tried it!

I just use chocolate on mine although you can put syrup in to make it more sticky.

mymama · 11/03/2008 08:45

plain 2 min noodles give it a nesty look.

Do you have copha in UK? Recipes here include 1 tablespoon copha when melting the chocolate and it all holds really well.

MrsBadger · 11/03/2008 08:47

copha not easy to get hold of, but adding a sppoonful of butter and one of golden syrup to the choc will help

eleanorsmum · 11/03/2008 08:47

mama - don't think so whats copha like?

anyone got ay quantities for me? 100g of choc to how much cereal or is it guess work? also how much syrup or what size mars bar, like that idea

OP posts:
MrsBadger · 11/03/2008 08:49

I just melt whatever I've got then stir in cereal till the texture's right

WaynettaSlob · 11/03/2008 08:50

I just use guess work - start off with lots of chocolate and add krispies bit by bit.

KaySamuels · 11/03/2008 09:00

Ooh like the mrs bar colditz I am gonna try that! We just melt the choc then gradually add the cereal until there is enough!

If you make extra EM send them over here.

I hate these threads!

Whats wrong with melted choc & cornflakes?!

Platino · 11/03/2008 09:06

For non crumbly ones my mums best method was always:

cornflakes
coco-powder
syrup - 2 tablespoons [roughly]
stir....yummy....drool...I wanna make crsipie cakes too.

bellavita · 11/03/2008 09:18

Put some syrup in.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 11/03/2008 10:01

Mmmmm crispie cakes

dizzydixies · 11/03/2008 10:04

nigella has a receipe for them in one of her books and they are lovely - I think its the feast one, nothing spectacular though - just mars bar added as well

dizzydixies · 11/03/2008 10:05

here

SoupDragon · 11/03/2008 10:09

The chocolate plus crispies version is surely non-crumbly provided you don't put too many crispies in. The chocolate sets hard and holds it all together! Doesn't it? Mine always have been fine, it's the syrup/butter/cocoa ones that are crumbly/fall apart.
