Frozen dhal

I'm clearing out my freezer and when I went to get ginger cubes for my curry saw a M and S dhal that I didn't know I had. Currently defrosting in the microwave but I've read the just read the packet and it says not suitable for home freezing. Any logical reason it would say that? No-one in the house is immuno-suppressed or pregnant.

Thanks.

I wouldn't. It'll be because it has already been frozen.

I never pay any attention when food says it’s not suitable for home freezing and will freeze things and always been fine. Freezing might decrease the quality of the meal for example if it causes the ingredients to break down or it might be because if you freeze the cooking instructions can’t then be followed etc. It might be because it’s been frozen before. Either way for something like Dahl I really wouldn’t worry about it and would tuck in.

I would, it usually states if it's been previously frozen or say Do Not Freeze. Not Suitable usually means the quality could be affected.

Thanks - will eat it. I'll make sure it's heated to a high temperature and I'm sure we'll be fine!
