Jacket potato party.

DSD has requested jacket potatos for her party food as they are her favourite and I'm happy to do this. No dietary requirements 20-25 guests.

How many potatoes would you do? I was thinking 60 but my OH says that's too many and I am very much a feeder 😅.

Toppings wise I have planned-
Chilli con carne
Tuna mayo and sweet corn
Baked beans.
Chicken curry. Probably a tikka/korma style one.

There will also be big bowls of coleslaw, salad, grated cheese, garlic bread, sausage rolls and dips etc. Does this sound OK or should I have another filling?

Is there anything else you would add? I'll have rolls etc in for anyone who doesn't like potato and lots of sweet treats for afters.

I would cook 25 and then just a few for luck.

I will have prawns please. And I will only eat one potato.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I'll leave off the sausage rolls and garlic bread and will make a vegetable curry. I always get a bit carried away and do too much as I worry about running out. There will be sour cream and chives, spring onions etc for topping the chilli.

Will keep the sweetcorn separate from the tuna too. It will be mostly adults/teens, only 3 under 10's. There will be no issue cooking them all as I have a range cooker with 3 ovens. I think I will do 35-40 and do as suggested and offer halves for seconds.

I will be borrowing a couple of extra slow cookers to keep the fillings warm.

My OH suggested hiring a Jacket potato van for the day but I don't think that's necessary with these numbers.

I do this for 25-30 when we go with school.

We allow one per person (teens) and do about 10 Extra. A large jacket potato is 220g so

220x35= 7.7kg

The bags of baking potatoes from Asda are 2.5kg and we use those so I'd get three bags.

We have tuna beans cheese coleslaw and then plain salad oh and butter and it's always a a massive hit with plates licked clean!

We do them for four hours on low. Will they fit in your oven?

Expertise speaking cherrypied😍Sorted!

I often reduce cook time by giving them 2 at a time x 5mins in the microwave This is more labour intensive but saves me being around so early.

I would also serve them in halves so they can choose 2 different toppings.

I do think you have to make sure there is bread of some sort to eat with the hot toppings for those who don’t eat jacket potatoes. There are 2 categories of folk who don’t - don’t like and dieters. I love a jacket but the DS and DH don’t. DS will eat a sweet potato jacket, DH very averse to any mash like consistency of potato 😂
