I'm not a keen baker but wanted to make some rice Krispy cakes for a party on Saturday. Ingredients are marshmallows, food colouring, butter and Rice Krispies. How soon could I make them ahead of the party? Thank you

You can make them now and they will be perfectly fine. just cover tightly once cooled.

for absolute peak freshness, make on Friday.

Thank you. I've made them and they've turned out really well! Should I store in the fridge? Sorry, I'm a novice with things like this!

They don't need to be stored in the fridge, just in a plastic box with a good seal.

Really? My friend is adamant fridge because of butter?! But I thought that would make them go really hard

The butter will be fine for a few days. It's mixed in with a fair amount of sugar to keep it fresh (as is right for a party 🥳).

I only put things I've baked in the fridge if they've got fresh cream or cream cheese on them.

My butter lives on the worktop and is never in the fridge

Thanks everyone. Definitely a fair amount of sugar in there 😀
