At a local pub restaurant near me they offer a 3 course meal with various options for £7!!

makes me wonder how they make a profit tbh but I’m not complaining. Went there with DH and my parents for an anniversary meal for parent’s anniversary

Amazing value! But you’re right it prompts a few questions. I hope the kitchen staff are getting a fair wage. (Hopefully)

What's the first dish? Not sure if it's mushroom soup in a little ramekin or mushrooms in a cream sauce.

They’ll make profit on that food and then drinks which are higher margin - a couple of mushrooms cost pennies and the cake looks basic

Looks fab

MyJetNowAirlines · 10/10/2023 16:37

That’s not a lot of money at all for 3 courses.

It’s mushrooms in a Stilton sauce

It's very cheap. I doubt they they are able to buy the food for that, never mind cover overheads and incidental costs. So I wonder if it is to drum up interest, a way of getting bums on seats on quiet days/times, or a loss leader hoping people will be drinking enough to balance it out.

I know that many pubs these days buy meals in which have very basic 'cooking' requirements - boil in a bag, oven, deep fry, or microwave so they can get minimum wage staff in the kitchen rather than trained chefs. Which I can believe these have done as the food doesn't look amazing. Even so, they cannot be making profit from that.

Well tbh it was absolutely lovely. The chicken curry for example was gorgeous - proper chicken used not that frozen cubed stuff 🤢

It is only on a Monday Tuesday and Wednesday so perhaps you’re right about them trying to get more people in on the quieter days. Dad had a toffee sundae which was huge and he said it was lovely!

Looks good for cheap pub grub!!

is it a chain -she asks hopefully!!

Lonesomefetter · 21/10/2023 00:38

Perhaps they just use up stuff that's left over from the weekend, does seem a bit too good to be true.

Ilovepugs2017 · 21/10/2023 10:21

It’s not it’s just a local owned pub 🥰

Looks great, especially at that price. You barely get a starter for 7e where I am.
