If going to be out of house at lunchtime I usually give my DS (11 months old) a sandwich and fruit coz its easy but would like to make some salads like tuna n pasta n mayonnaise or tuna, potatoes n cucumber n tomato or stuff like that but need to put a dressing on them and not sure what is suitable for babies - can i use shop bought mayonnaise or do they contain bad stuff like sugar n seasoning etc? Also what about a vinagreete style dressing? Help... doesnt want to eat sandwiches for ever.

Not sure I'd use a shop bought dressing although I dont know why, I've never really considered it before! I would imagine they contain alot of salt and sugar though but I dont know that for sure. Maybe have a look on the bottle. Coukld make your own dressing with a bit of oil, lemon juice and some dried herbs, or a (tiny!) bit of mustard and honey if hes over 1.

I do give ds (10 months) mayonnaise (Hellmans light cos thats what i eat!), he had tuna mayo with sweetcorn and jacket potato for tea tonight, never gave it a 2nd thought and have done so for all 3 dc.

Sorry hes not over 1 yet, dont know why I thought he was , so no honey yet. Unless that advice has now changed too...? [cant keep up emoticon]
