Converting cake size

I have a lemon blueberry yoghurt cake that I make that DD loves. It's her birthday this weekend and she has requested it as her birthday cake. I normally make it in a loaf tin but I'm going to double it and make a round cake and make a lemon cream cheese buttercream to go on top.

How do I adjust the baking time and temperature?

That sounds delicious! A lemon blueberry yoghurt cake with a lemon cream cheese buttercream is a fantastic choice for a birthday celebration.
Here's how to adjust the baking time and temperature for your doubled recipe in a round cake pan:
1. Baking Time:

  • Increase baking time: Doubling the recipe will mean a larger cake, which will need longer to bake. Start by adding 50% to the original baking time for your loaf tin. For example, if your loaf tin recipe baked for 50 minutes, aim for 75 minutes in the round cake pan.
  • Check for doneness: Use a toothpick or cake tester inserted into the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is done.
2. Baking Temperature:
  • Maintain the original temperature: You likely won't need to change the baking temperature. Most cake recipes bake between 325°F (165°C) and 350°F (175°C). However, be sure to check the original recipe for the specific temperature. Temperature conversions like what is 160 celsius in fahreinheit e.t.c will take your baking skills to the next level.
