A pudding that travels well and you can make ahead

Does anyone have any good suggestions. I normally do a crumble but am thinking I could mix it up a bit. Can be made the day before for consumption 100 miles away by car.

Tarte Tatin

Are you able to finish it off when you get there or does it have to arrive ready to be served?

If it has to be ready to serve I would suggest this but a) it needs a LOT longer to set than the recipe says (recommend overnight) and b) you will need to keep it cold in a coolbox/bag on the way there.

Any other kind of unbaked cheesecake would work too, as long as you can keep it cold.

Or this orange and almond cake - serve with creme fraiche or mascarpone and a few berries.

Pavlova or eton mess could work but ideally you would whip the cream and do the final assembly when you get there. Banoffee pie the same.

Sorry the top link is for the yoghurt thyme and honey cheesecake. Obviously not the lamb koftas!

Banoffee pie, trifle, millionaires shortbread, chocolate tart, Eton mess (easy assembly at destination?)

CurlewKate · 04/10/2023 15:36

I always take the ingredients for an Eton Mess and make it when I get there.

Jam roll poly
Sticky toffee pudding
Bakewell tart
Eve’s pudding

flavoured jelly - like elderflower cordial or something - with fresh berries in it.
Make it in a bowl so you can take it in the bowl. Once it's set, it will travel, even if warms up a bit on route stuff it back in the fridge when you get there.

If you can be arsed doing it in layers you can make it really pretty with the fruit.

If you're travelling 100miles, definitely not something that needs to be kept cold. Maybe plum and frangipane tart. Or brownies made with extra butter so they are more puddingy. Or meringues made with Crunchies so they are slightly autumnul with a plum compote.

Sticky toffee pudding?

theduchessofspork · 04/10/2023 18:42

Nigella has a spiced plum recipe which is really nice at this time of year - and you can pick up cream at the other end.

DuckonaBike · 04/10/2023 18:43

Something cake like (chocolate brownies, Gateau Breton) with fruit coulis and / or cream to have on the side.

theduchessofspork · 04/10/2023 18:43

… and you just bung a bunch of plums and wine and spice in the oven so it’s no bother. Take it out a bit early and then heat at the other end.
