What should protein be?

What can I serve/cook with roast potatoes that is not roast dinner meat that a fussy 3 year old would eat? He likes breaded fish and chicken but not meat like the chicken you'd get in a roast dinner. Also trying to limit his sausage consumption!

Report your opening post and ask MNHQ to change title.

Have you tried other dishes that mix breadcrumbs and meat such as homemade meatloaf, meatballs or even fish balls?

Do you fry the breaded fish / chicken or do you cook it in the oven? Because he might like the "fried " taste more than the fish/chicken taste. Do you make them yourself or buy the frozen version. Homemade ones have less bread coating so if you are buying them , try a homemade version.

Would he eat mince? Mine won't touch beef joint meat but is great with mince beef.

Mushroom, spinach and lentil wellington. Plenty of protein and iron there

My DC are quite fussy, don't like meat and it's hard to keep their protein intake up! I find prawns fried in a little butter always go down well though, or scrambled eggs or even just some cubes of cheese. Not really the usual accompaniments to a roast, but sometimes needs must! Would he like falafel balls or stuffing balls made with finely chopped nuts? Those could be good options.

Good protein sources roughly in order of % from high to low include: tofu, chickpeas, lentils and nuts. Tofu has a higher % of protein than meat. Most of what's grown is fed to animals for a very good reason! Anything with any of those, with as little processing as possible, is going to be good

Small baked meatballs?

Have you ever tried cooking white fish in milk with some butter in the oven? It's pretty old school but it is nice!

Thanks everyone. I remember doing fish in milk for eldest but had forgotten about that!
