Can I slow cook gammon in ginger ale?!

I usually use Rola Cola but the only thing I've got in is last Christmas's ginger ale would that work?!

If not, am I best to just put vegetables at the bottom then cook it 'dry' in the slow cooker or use water / stock??

Definitely! I'd probably make a glaze of the cooking juices with a bit of honey and mustard and quickly roast before serving if I was cooking for guests but will be perfectly lovely without doing that.

Yes, it'll be delicious

You have to add liquid to the slow cooker, It won't work otherwise. Water or stock is fine, then after cooking make soup from the cooking liquid.

Yes you can. What time should I arrive?

FusionChefGeoff · 30/09/2023 22:35

Excellent! I shall get that on before we all head out to rugby tomorrow morning and @ThisNameHasChanged great tip I like the sound of a glaze at the end

Yep. I've also done beef brisket in ginger ale, before finishing it on the BBQ.

Gammon joint with a cupful of brown sugar on the base. Sit joint on top and add another cupful on top of the joint. Cook on slow for about 6 hours. No liquid required. Absolutely delicious.
