Baking loaf and fairy cakes at same time?

I've just put a loaf tin in to bake with the leftovers in fairy cake cases.

I'm
Now wondering if I've made a massive error as I will need to remove the cake cases after about 12 minutes but the loaf takes 40-50 minutes

Am I going to ruin the loaf by opening the oven?

Urgent help please?!

Not if you do it fast, open door quick, pull them out and close gently.

Possibly, but you could try being very quick, maybe with assistance.

Thank you I will keep this in mind for next time.

I decided to leave the cakes in for longer than they needed so now they're dry and crispy. But still edible for immediate family.

The loaf looks ok and is cooling with the drizzle on then I'll try and take it out of the tin.

It's not really an issue, I do it all the time as I like to fill the oven if I have it on at all! The trick is not to keep it open for any length of time as that drops the temperature in the oven, for that reason I think those hide and slide doors are terrible idea for baking as you're losing a load of heat by the time you do that with them leaving a great big gaping oven to lose heat.

I usually open door the bare amount needed with one hand, whip out whatever needs to come out with the other and close the door quickly but gently, never had anything fail yet!

Great to know for next time that's helpful thank you.

I had two trays to pull out too so probably couldn't have done that very quickly.

The loaf cake is yet to be tasted so not sure on the verdict yet.

Anyone else bake off inspired this weekend?
