And do you recommend it? Or is a bag just as good?! DH keeps shoving the onion in with the cheddar (I know…!) which is revolting, so I was going to get him a special onion device!! Lakeland do one and so do Joie.

Bump.

I don’t have one but I had a ventilated pottery garlic pot fir a while. I liked it a lot. I would also be interested in learning about these

Just invested in an onion basket. Not sure yet how successful it will be but it looks good and that's a start

I have a tin i keep onions in. The tin sits of a shelf in the kitchen. It isn't anything special but the onions keep fine for ages.

Oh, that’s cool!

But, to be honest, I meant something for when you’ve used half the onion but want to save the other half so it doesn’t go off. Like this.

Aha! Oh yes I am heathen in that sense and just wrap the half used one in foil 😬

SidekickSylvia · 24/09/2023 12:53

I just wrap the half in cling film, but I use a lot of onions so it won't be wrapped up for more than a day or two.

Did have the LH one and it worked ok but dropped it on the (tiled) floor where it broke.
Now we just use a clipseal plastic box and that is fine (it is marked so it doesn't get used for anything else).

Ihateslugs · 24/09/2023 13:32

I have a very old Lakeland one, very similar to the Joie one in your picture. I use it all the time for part used onions, it saves having a smelly fridge!

ApolloandDaphne · 24/09/2023 13:33

I use little sealable bags that I got the B&M to keep half an onion in the fridge.

HorseySurprise · 24/09/2023 13:40

I have the Joie one and it seems to work fine,

(In fact I have the Joie red/green/yellow pepper ones, the red and brown onion ones, the tomato one, the lemon one and the one for raspberries they all seem to work fine although hard to open the first time and I know I am very sad.)

Drews · 24/09/2023 21:52

I use an old Gu glass jar.

CrapBucket · 24/09/2023 21:55

I only ever use one whole onion at a time, but if I didn’t, I would freeze the unused part otherwise I think everything would smell of onions. Plus then it’s ready to cook with and I don’t have to do two lots of chopping. God I’m lazy.
